Music Mondays - Zac Brown Band "As She's Walking Away" featuring Alan Jackson

I thought since the sophomore effort from the Zac Brown Band releases tomorrow, I would feature a song from "You Get What You Give". I've listened to the album preview on Rhapsody and I can't wait to get a copy.

I've been a fan of ZBB since I first heard them on the Rick and Bubba Show several years ago. I started following ZBB on Myspace and their own website. I signed up for their newsletter and remember well reading about them finally signing with a major label.

They sent out an offer for the pre-orders that they would autograph the first 400, so I decided to grab one not really caring if I was one of the lucky ones but I did think it might be pretty cool if I was that fortunate. A few weeks before the CD was set to release, I got a letter in the mail apologizing that the record label had pushed back the street date for the CD and how sorry they were about it.

Fast forward about 4-6 weeks later and I went to the mailbox and found a package and remember thinking to myself that I hadn't ordered anything recently. Inside was a pre-release copy of the CD signed by all of the band members but what was really cool was what the letter said. It apologized about the delay in getting the CD and said that as soon as the full release was sent out, they would send a copy of it as well that I could keep or pass along to friends or family.

They followed through as well. Not long after the first CD came, a second one arrived identical to the first. Guess I was one of the first 400 because I had another autographed copy of the CD from ZBB.

I was already a fan but I gained a new level or respect for the band for how they handled that scenario. There's not many groups that would do that for their fans. And if for some reason, you're not a fan of ZBB, you should be. I think to sum up their sound best is that they're a little bit Alabama, a little bit Jimmy Buffett, and a little bit Charlie Daniels Band and I'm quite sure this won't be my last Music Monday on the ZBB.
